Born in Manchester in 1982 it took Gemma18 years to get to
the right side of the Pennines. Having studied at Huddersfield University under
the tutelage of Sandy Smith and Philip McCann, Gemma spent 2 years playing at
Sellers International and Rothwell Temperance Bands before finding her rightful
place back at Pennine Brass, completing the ‘loud with no quality’ corner of
the band!.
Gemma has occupied all of the horn seats at Pennine over the
last two years and is looking to a swift promotion to third kazoo on the left
in 2008.
Gemma is a Music and Performance Studies Teacher at The
Brooksbank School and Sports College in Elland, which involves drinking tea,
crowd control and losing her voice… oh and the occasional bit of teaching!
Gemma successfully achieved a life long ambition by passing her driving test
(10th time!!!) this year and is looking forward to getting a car and
being the band taxi for the foreseeable future!
In her spare time (when the hell do I have spare time?!)
Gemma likes going to old gigs with the old men of the band… (Dream Theatre…
Rush… BJH!), photoshopping pictures of Mark Wears on Facebook and dying her
hair.
